Within a musical journey that continues to gather immeasurable momentum, Gene Siewing has always plied his trade with a veritable ability to play between mediums, genres, and melodies, with a firm eye on seamless evolutions and a dexterous ear that has produced many memorable and emotive musical moments.
native of St Louis, Missouri, Siewing currently resides in Berlin, where he has honed his craft both behind the decks and in the studio, in a city where dance music culture enables endless creativity. Siewing’s sound revolves primarily around the heartbeat of House, but he has always strived to understand how his musical universe can showcase the many in-between spaces that persist within the genre. Each release has demonstrated his natural ability to pair evocative harmonies with polyrhythmic percussive sequences, all the while overlaying up top at times, sublime and captivating vocal performances - not just performances, but fully fleshed out, meaningful narratives. Siewing’s passion for musicality and interwoven arrangements make his music feel alive, a visualized and delivered complexity that immerses as much as it encourages movement to the groove. Jazzy, soulful, and vocally enriching are but three key motifs of his style, and the overarching theme that runs through all of his productions is the amount of love and adoration that Siewing has for the House music genre and its legacy - and in essence, to give something back in his own way. His discography to date consists of a series of celebrated EPs, which have landed on the likes of OFF, Made to Play, and Kolour, to name but a few, and has been championed by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Tony Humphries, and Miles Maeda. His work with Oliver Siebert as Chubby Dubz brought further acclaim and plays from the likes of Ricardo Vilalobos to Doc Martin, Luciano and Radio Slave. Within the realms of DJing, Siewing has traversed the globe delivering sets to many a dance floor, taking in clubs such as RA in Las Vegas and Berghain Kantine in Berlin along with all the stops in between. Aside from DJing and producing, since 2014 Siewing has overseen the development of the Intent Recordings imprint, which has become his primary outlet for solo works. The ethos of Intent is to release high-quality dance floor-oriented cuts that endeavor to demonstrate multi-faceted sounds and styles, along with an emphasis on how emotive elements can be interwoven within the music’s DNA. This ethos has become most apparent with recent releases that have seen Siewing work with Ingrid Arthur, one of Europe’s leading and most distinguished soul singers and the leader of the 100% Gospel Choir, on 2024’s ‘Higher’ and 2025’s ‘I’ve Been Blessed’ EPs, both of which showcased all that Intent Recordings and Siewing are aiming to achieve - sublime, richly detailed, and evocative dance music, that moves the floor as well as hearts. The rest of 2025 and beyond is a period where Siewing is looking to further his production knowledge and abilities via further releases on Intent, which will include new collaborations with Arthur. Alongside this collaboration, Siewing is aiming to create new partnerships with other soulful singers in order to keep Intent growing on the right path - one where quality, heartfelt grooves aim to bring folk together under dazzling suns and blue-tinged skies, where the heart is whole and the soul is delighted.
